Wow wow wow! I don’t remember how I became familiar with book spine poetry but in case you’ve never heard of it, it’s totally worth giving it a try! So what is it then? Book spine poetry is a kind of poetry where you don’t have to write from scratch – in fact, you don’t have to write at all! What you do instead is arrange book titles to make a poem. I think it’s a wonderful way to introduce students to poetry and also make use of the books piling up in your school library. You can also use book spine poems as creative writing prompts! Or why not make your own book spine poem as a back to school activity, take pictures of your “creation” and hang them on your class walls!
