Eleven random facts about me!

Eleven random facts about me!
I was really surprised to see I had been tagged by Jo Psarra in this interesting blog challenge so thank you Jo once again! I’m always up for challenges and I’m particularly excited about this one although I don’t really know where to begin! So, here it goes, eleven random facts about  me!

1. It might come as a shock to some people, but I never really saw myself as an EFL teacher. In fact, I was interested in becoming a subtitler, that’s why my postgraduate studies were on Audiovisual Translation.
2. My greatest passion though has always been singing. I took singing lessons for about 4 years, sang in bands and I’m still trying to rehearse whenever I can. Music is the only thing in life that relaxes me.
3. Come to think about it, cooking also helps me unwind. I love experimenting with new recipes and trying all different types of spices whenever I cook.
4. I adore horror stories and films, generally anything related to creepy, old houses.:) When I was at university, I was so captivated by gothic literature that I was thinking of pursuing further studies in the field of literary theory.
5. I’m scared of flying. Funny thing is I have travelled so many times in my life that I can’t really see why that fear exists.
6. I don’t like people taking me photographs, but I love taking photographs myself.
7. I am enthusiastic about teaching and I get carried away very easily! My PC is filled with ideas, handouts, craft templates etc. that I haven’t tried yet.
8. One of the things I really want to do someday is to organize cooking lessons in English.
9. I’m a perfectionist in every aspect of my life.
10. I love road trips. So far, I’ve been on 3 road trips across Europe and hopefully I’ll be able to travel by car for more years to come!
11. I’m not a nature lover, that’s why I hate insects, especially cockroaches and spiders.

Now, to answer Jo’s questions
1. What is your favourite film? My favourite film is Kubrick’s “The Shining”. Jack Nickolson is absolutely amazing in the starring role and I still think it’s one of the scariest films I’ve ever seen although it’s been 33 years since its release.
2. What is that you can’t stand? I can’t stand rude and ungrateful people.

3. What kind of music did you use to listen to when you were a teenager? It’s strange because  I remember I was a huge pop music fan, but at the same time I would listen to Offspring or Skunk Anansie. I now only listen to rock music, but I guess I was experimenting at that age.
4. If you could change anything in the world, what would it be? That’s a tough one…I suppose I would like people to be more aware of the problems our society is facing and take action instead of expecting others to change things for them.
5. Who do you have as a role model? It might sound like a cliché but I have to say my parents. They are amazing people and they have helped me become the person I am today.
6. What is your favourite book that you have read more than once? There are so many, I don’t know which one to choose…if I had to pick one though, it would be Robert Cormier’s “I am the Cheese”. I first read it when I was 14 but it still moves me every time I read it.
7. What would you ask from a genie? For health. Nothing is more important.
8. What is your biggest dream? You mean apart from becoming a professional musician and winning a Grammy? Kidding aside, my dream is to keep learning and never stop experimenting with new ideas.
9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? I’ve thought of dozens of places so far, but I think I’d love to live in New York.
10. How do you deal with loss? It depends. Most of the times, I need a lot of time but I go through it alone. Despite being really open about my problems, when it comes to losing loved ones I keep it all inside.
11. What would you like to change in you? I would like to be less of a control freak! I am a perfectionist as I said earlier but I’m trying really hard not to be like that all the time. And to be more optimistic, too!

Here are the bloggers I would like to tag so that hopefully they can get the challenge going!:).They are people I admire for their ideas and passion and whose blogs I’ve been reading for a while now.

  1. Christina Markoulaki
  2. Maria Sachpazian
  3. Vicky Loras
  4. Marisa Constantinides
  5. Dimitris Primalis
  6. Sophia Mavridi
  7. Daniela Tomatis

And here are my 11 questions!

  3. Which is one mistake you’ve never learnt from and continue making?
  4.  If you could turn back time, which era would you like to live in and why?
